Nancy Hernandez

My name is Nancy Hernandez.  I was born in Brooklyn, New York in the year 1953 but did my schooling in Newark, New Jersey.  At the age of 18 I married and moved to Puerto Rico.  I was widowed in 2004 and it was at this time that I started to do the things I had not had a chance to do when I was raising my family.  As a missionary I traveled to other countries and also within Puerto Rico to assist as well as bring happiness where I could just by being there for them, cooking and bringing my smile.

I came to Chicago In the year 2017 after Hurricane Maria. I met Ian Ryder (former Case Manager) and he welcomed me to Pope Francis Center.
